A woman has shared the humiliation she felt after her daughter made scathing comments to her about her decision to wear her bikini at the age of 67, despite the fact that her granddaughter specifically encouragedher to. The woman explained that it was her granddaughter's19th birthday, and she was celebrating by having a pool party with her pals. "After she picked out an outfitfor herself, she tried to pick out an outfit for me," she explained, sharing that all the options were "two pieces".
At first, she shared that she'd feel more comfortable in a swimsuit, but her granddaughter encouraged her by explaining that her friends were "not judgmental," and no one would bat an eyelid.
She also said that she was "flattered" her granddaughter thought she should be wearing a two-piece, and she also wanted to let her know that she doesn't have to "hide herself when she gets older," taking the opportunity to instil some body positivity into her.

However, her granddaughter's mum didn't see it that way and was furious at her mother for wearing a two-piece bikini.
She penned: "After the party, Brigitte told me it was inappropriate for a woman my age to wear that in front of a bunch of college-aged youngsters. She noted that she herself wore a one-piece instead of a two-piece. Am I the a**hole?"

In the comments, people defended her decision to wear a two-piece bikini. One person wrote: "The birthday girl picked it out and wanted you to wear the bikini.
"As long as you and the birthday girl were comfortable, that's all that matters. No one ever died from seeing an older woman in a bikini. Your daughter needs to get over herself and her judgement".
Another agreed, penning: "This. I think a lot of my generation grew up being uncomfortable and worried about what other people think of them, and if people feel confident and happy, that's all that matters.
"I probably would feel uncomfortable seeing my mother in a bikini, but that's partly because I was raised Catholic and partly my own issues.
"Everyone should just try to find what makes them happy and leave everyone else alone. Feels like a lot of people aren't happy and just want to bring everyone else down to their level.
"I applaud the younger generations for being open and comfortable with who they are. I'll admit it scares me".
Somebody else shared that they thought the mum must've been "jealous," saying: "Sounds to me like the grandmother looked better in her bikini than the mother in her one piece, making a mother jealous because all the young boys were admiring the grandmother".
Another said that they thought it must be the mum's "insecurities" stopping her from praising her own mum for wearing a bikini.
"The daughter is having second-hand embarrassment for her mom because she doesn't want to be wearing bikinis," they fumed.
Somebody said that the grandma should speak to her daughter about "body positivity" and teach her a lesson.
